Betuwe

Our homeground in the Netherlands, between the Rivers Rijn and Waal, near Arnhem, Nijmegen and Wageningen, and with the towns Elst, Tiel and of course ZETTEN. A small impression you'll find on http://vvv.betuwe.web.nl/ and http://www.overbetuwe.nl/ It's a country, formed by the rivers (before damms were build, from the 16th century on) and by man (agriculture, e.g. fruit, dairy, meat and crop production, and nowadays industrie as well). And, because of the development of a new - unefficient, ugly and landscape and nature demolishing - haulauge railway into Germany by the Dutch government, the Betuwe is even represented abroad: http://www.betuwe.de/ In the Netherlands, http://www.milieudefensie.nl (http://www.foenl.org/) does a good job in protecting our nice area against those developments. A good initiative in the Betuwe, to help unemployed people and for the aid of development countries, shows http://www.betuwewereldwijd.nl/ as well as the http://www.wereldwinkelzetten.uwnet.nl/ that sells products from developing countries. Some people who still love the Betuwe, although they left the country for studies and jobs, you'll find at http://www.betuwe4ever.nl
